Do skylights leak?
A properly installed skylight should not leak. Almost every "leaky skylight" we are called to comes down to the flashing or the installation, not the unit itself — which is exactly why skylights should be fitted by roofers. Ours are cut, flashed and sealed into the roof properly, and covered by our 10-year workmanship warranty.
Should I choose a fixed or an opening skylight?
Fixed skylights are simpler and cheaper — pure natural light. Opening skylights add ventilation, which makes a real difference in kitchens, bathrooms and any room that gets stuffy or damp. We will recommend one based on the room, not the price tag.
Can you install a skylight in my existing roof?
Yes — most of our installs are retrofits into existing roofs. We check the framing, cut and frame the opening, and flash the unit to suit your roofing material, whether that is long run steel, tiles or shingles.
How long does a skylight installation take?
A straightforward single skylight is usually installed in a day, and the roof is closed up weathertight the same day — your home is never left open overnight.
Will a skylight make the room too hot or too cold?
Modern double-glazed, low-E skylights are a different world from the old acrylic domes — they hold heat in winter, reject excess summer heat, and can be fitted with blinds for full control.
Can you replace my old dome skylight?
Yes — swapping tired, fogged or yellowed acrylic domes for modern glazed units is common work for us. We replace the unit, re-flash it properly and leave the interior tidy.
