Southern Roofing are roofing contractors based in Christchurch. We work on homes and commercial buildings across the city and out into wider Canterbury, and roofing is the only thing we do.

What we do

We handle every stage of a roof: new roofs on new builds, re-roofing and roof replacement when an old one has run out of life, repairs when something has started leaking, and the maintenance that keeps the other three from arriving early. Spouting, downpipes, flashings and skylights come with it, because those are the parts that usually fail first.

We work in long run steel, asphalt shingle, tile and membrane, on homes and commercial buildings alike. Which one suits your place depends on the pitch of the roof, how exposed the site is and what the building already looks like, and that is a conversation worth having before anyone quotes you a number.

How we work

You get a look at the roof before you get a price. We tell you what we found, show you photos where it helps, and give you an itemised written quote so you can see what you are paying for. If something changes once we are on the roof, you hear about it and agree to it in writing before it happens.

On a re-roof we work in sections, so the house is closed up and weathertight at the end of every day rather than sitting open under a tarpaulin. On commercial work we build the schedule around your trading hours instead of the other way round.

Where we work

Christchurch and the surrounding Canterbury area. Roofs here have to deal with a genuine spread of conditions, from coastal salt through to hard frosts and nor-west wind, and the right material and coating grade for a site by the estuary is not the right one for a place further inland. Matching that properly is part of the quote, not an afterthought.
